2025 Policy Prioritisation through Value Chain Analysis (PPVC) Ranking Brief
Driving Agricultural Transformation and Inclusive Growth through Strategic Value Chain Development: Zambia Value Chain Ranking.
Agriculture is vital to Zambia’s economy, contributing significantly to the country’s GDP and employment, particularly in rural areas, while supporting food security and generating export earnings. The Policy Prioritisation through Value Chain Analysis (PPVC) project, building on the Comprehensive Agriculture Transformation Support Programme (CATSP), offers a data-driven framework to identify and rank agricultural value chains for inclusive growth. Utilising market-led methodologies and stakeholder input, PPVC assesses thirteen (13) key value chains in terms of business viability and development impact. This evidence-based approach guides policymakers in formulating policies and prioritising investments that enhance productivity, job creation, food security, and poverty reduction, thereby fostering sustainable agricultural transformation aligned with national development goals.
