About IAPRI

IAPRI is a leading expert in Agriculture policy and research with over 10 years of experience. Established on 5th October 2011, IAPRI is a non-profit Zambian company limited by guarantee. IAPRI has its roots in the Food Security Research Project (FSRP) which ran from 1999 – 2011. The FSRP was a collaborative programme between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agriculture Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at Michigan State University (MSU). IAPRI was established to carry out agricultural and food policy research, analysis, capacity building, and outreach, serving Zambia's agricultural sector and contributing to informed policy formulation for sustainable pro-poor agricultural development and effectively stimulating inclusive economic growth.

Focus Areas & Strategic Objectives

Good policies must be informed by timely, high-quality, locally relevant evidence and must undergo rigorous economic, social and environmental review. For the past decade, IAPRI has bridged this gap by making the connection between scientific research and policymaking spheres. This has required the generation of evidence and recommendations from empirical research and transmitted through various communication tools to influence agri-food and natural resources policies. In addition, IAPRI develops on-demand models and puts into practice some of the innovative solutions coming from empirical research to curate and transmit the knowledge products and tools emanating from such research into policy and programme planning and implementation processes. IAPRI implements its work through three main pathways within the food systems i.e. a) Evidence based empirical research, innovation and policy advice; b) Capacity development through targeted partnership and training; and c) Communication, outreach and strategic partnerships. Our research programme areas include: 1. Climate Change and Natural Resources Management 2. Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition 3. Agriculture Diversification, Markets and Trade

Climate Change and Natural Resources Management

We cultivate a shared understanding of how finance should work and promote financial education from a young age. When children learn new things, they share them with their family and friends, resulting in intergenerational impact.
