The Zambian government remains focused to transform the agricultural sector into a resilient and sustainable system that contributes to jobs, income growth and delivers on food security, productivity and regional trade. Legal reforms sit at the core of this transformation. The three bills i.e., Food Reserve bill; Agricultural Credits and Warehousing Receipt bill; and Agricultural Marketing Bill, which are before parliament marks a significant milestone in this journey.

In contributing towards public sensitization and factual, independent and objective media reporting, #IAPRI with support from Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Diakonia Zambia Country Office held an information and knowledge sharing session at Taj Hotels on 17th February 2026.

The session brought together Civil Society Organisations and key media houses. IAPRI presented insights on how the reforms will strengthen food security, enhancing market transparency, expanding access to finance, and promoting a predictable, private-sector-driven agricultural system. Expert drawn from Grain Traders Association of Zambia., Zambian Commodities Exchange, KRI Zambia – nasfa and Kudu Consulting reinforced the discussion with practical industry insights and experiences.
