IAPRI participated in the Townhall Meeting on the 2021–2025 Economic Performance and the 2026 Budget and Economic Outlook, held on 29 January 2026 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre. The meeting was organised by the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.

IAPRI was represented by the Executive Director Dr. Brian P. Mulenga, who presented on the “Envisaged Role of the Agricultural Sector in Investment, Productivity Growth and Job Creation in Zambia.” The presentation highlighted key policy priorities to unlock agriculture’s contribution to economic growth, including markets and trade reforms, expanded agricultural finance, and strategic investments across priority value chains which include; maize, wheat, soya beans, and beef.

The Townhall featured remarks from the Minister of Finance and National Planning, Secretary to the Treasury, Governor of the Bank of Zambia, and the Commissioner General of ZRA, underscoring the central role of agriculture in sustaining Zambia’s economic gains.
