On 28th January 2026, IAPRI with support from Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Diakonia Zambia Country Office held a high-level policy engagement meeting with Members of Parliament (MPs) to discuss the 3 agricultural bills that are before Parliament. The MPs were from the Agriculture, Lands and Natural Resources Committee, National Economy, Trade and Labor Matters Committee and Budget and Estimates Committee. The discussed bills were: Food Reserve Bill of 2025, Agricultural Credits and Warehousing Receipt Bill of 2025, and the Agricultural Marketing Bill of 2025.

Discussions focused on merits of the bills in transforming the sector towards guaranteeing food security, prosperity for all and expanded trade. The meeting also discussed potential pitfalls of the bills and the respective safeguards required to address them. The meeting was held at Grand Palace Hotel.
