Linking Science, Innovation and Agribusiness for Resilient Food Systems

IAPRI’s Research and Innovative Director Dr. Anthony Chapoto, is currently attending the 8th Africa Agribusiness and Science Week to address issues of how to turn the agrifood sector into an engine of job growth for Africa’s youth. The meeting is taking place at the International Convention Centre in Durban, South Africa.

Notably, practitioners have asserted that Knowledge is at the heart of sustainable development, and it is an essential resource for any citizen or organisation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Youth Entrepreneurship, Digitalization and Knowledge Management have become critical elements within the agricultural, agribusiness, and science stakeholders (governments, private sector, NGOs & civil society, researchers, regional and global actors) to formulate and implement actions to develop the sector sustainably.

However, access to finance has remained a major constraint for youth entrepreneurs to doubling production and productivity. Therefore, such challenges can be met by sharing knowledge, experiences, and ideas in a fair and trustful partnership.
