Zambia’s ability to achieve food and nutrition security, and broad based poverty reduction is intrinsically linked to inclusive agricultural development and growth. However, for economic growth and development to be sustainable, it must adequately include the marginalised groups of the society. Gender and youth are cross cutting themes that will systematically support research and advocacy work around the gender and youth theme.
This thematic area will focus on mainstreaming gender issues across all research areas. In addition, the Institute will prioritize research on youth employment and empowerment, and explore constraints and opportunities in the agricultural sector. The outputs will contribute towards gender and youth inclusiveness in agricultural policy formulation in Zambia.
