IAPRI gets invite to the First ever Luapula Expo

The Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute was invited to exhibit at the first ever Luapula Expo and Investments Conference under the theme “Linking Investors to Luapula Province to unlock the Economic Potential”. The Expo, an exhibition and conference, hosted various business entities from across the country presenting numerous investment opportunities that can be found within Luapula Province.

It was held in Mansa from 26th to 31st July 2017 and officially opened by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr Edgar C. Lungu. In his speech, the President noted that through the Luapula Expo Zambia would forge various links with local and international investors.

The IAPRI team of exhibitors during the Expo composed of the IAPRI Board Chairperson Dr Mick S. Mwala, the Executive Director (ED) Mr Chance Kabaghe, Senior Research Fellow Dr Rhoda Mofya-Mukuka, and Research Associate Mr Stephen Kabwe. This presented an opportunity for the institute to extend its visibility. In the three days, over 100 local and international delegates visited the stand. Various queries bordering on agriculture related issues were attended to by the IAPRI team.

During the Expo, The ED was asked to speak immediately after the President had given his official opening remarks. He took the opportunity to urge the local and international exhibitors to liaise with IAPRI on issues related to agriculture. The ED also held long discussions on issues in Zambia’s agriculture with a delegation of people from South Africa’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and several other stakeholders.
