IAPRI holds its 5th Annual General Meeting and unveils the 2017 Theme

The Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute [IAPRI] successfully held its 5th Annual General Meeting [AGM] on 12th May 2017 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka. The AGM covered the period 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2016 themed “Enhanced Relevance.” The AGM attracted participation from various stakeholders among them Government officials, donors, academic institutions, most stakeholders along the agriculture value chain, public and private sectors among others.

Speaking in his Board Chairman’s Report, Dr. Mick S. Mwala, stated that IAPRI had matured and needed to remain relevant in Zambia’s Agriculture Sector. In the Executive Director’s Report, Mr. Chance Kabaghe thanked the Board for playing a very big and vibrant role in the operations of IAPRI. He particularly emphasized the oversight role of the Board as being instrumental in leading IAPRI to unprecedented achievements during the course of the year.

Notable highlights from the proceedings of the meeting are outlined as follows:

It was reported by the IAPRI Executive Director that the Board had approved a new 2017 – 2022 Strategic Plan and the revised vision is “A Zambia free of hunger, malnutrition and poverty through sustained agricultural transformation”.

It was also reported by Mr. Chintu Mulendema of CYMA, Auditors that they had given a clean opinion on the financial statements of IAPRI for the year ended 31st December 2016. He further reported that the auditing firm CYMA would retire on audit rotation and thanked the Board for the opportunity to have served IAPRI.
